Message: “Your system is running a lot. The temperature sensor might need to be moved.”

I have a house with a one zone heating system with the Nest Learning thermostat in the kitchen.  The thermostat is in the warmest part of the house so it shuts off the heat before some of the other rooms get warm.  To solve this problem I bought a Nest remote sensor for my bedroom.   Now at night my thermostat will operate off the sensor in the bedroom.

Everything is working well and it seems to be working as intended, but now I get a notification saying that “Your system is running a lot. The temperature sensor might need to be moved.”

How do I disable this alert? The whole point of adding the sensor was to make the system run more.  I don't want to move it, that defeats the purpose.

Hi LearningNestGuy,

Yikes! To disable the "Your system is running a lot. The temperature sensor might need to be moved" alert on your Nest thermostat, you can follow these steps here in the troubleshooting when a Nest Temperature Sensor isn't in a good spot guide.

By disabling the alert, you can prevent the notification from appearing while still benefiting from the added functionality of the temperature sensor in your bedroom. This should allow your system to run according to your preferences without being prompted to move the sensor.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
