Minimum AC Temp

I have been using the Google Home app to set the air conditioning to 50 for two years with no issue. However, all of a sudden I can’t turn the temperature below 53 degrees using the app. There’s still no issue turning the temperature below 53 on the device itself. Do anyone know why this is suddenly happening? Thanks!

Hi Jsr4rr,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I’m sorry to hear that you can only adjust the temperature below 53 degrees manually on the Nest thermostat but not through the Google Home app as you used to. Help’s here!

To better assist you, I’d like to ask the following:

In the meantime, I’d suggest the following steps:

  • Ensure that both your mobile device and the Google Home app are up to date with the latest software version.
  • Restart the thermostat: This can refresh the connection between the Nest thermostat and the app. Follow the instructions in this article: Restart or reset a Nest thermostat.
  • Restart your mobile device: Sometimes a simple restart can fix glitches.
  • Ensure your Nest thermostat is still connected to the WiFi network by going to Settings > Network.
  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Google Home app.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

Hi,

I have a Nest model 1.4, no others. I am not receiving an error message, and there are no issues with heat, just using the app to lower the a/c. I tried all of your suggested solutions with no improvement. Please advise.

Thanks,

Justin

Hi Jsr4rr,

Thanks for following up, and I'm sorry for the delay in response!

I appreciate all the information provided. According to the details, it appears that you have the Nest Thermostat, which has a mirror-like display. But just to make sure, could you send me a photo of your Nest thermostat so I can verify this?

For now, I suggest checking if you have a temperature target hold set up through the Google Home app. Please refer to this article for more information: Hold the temperature on the Nest Thermostat.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jennifer
