My learning 3rd gen thermostat problems

Hi,

I have 2 problems with my thermostat.

1. My thermostat turns the heat on, but it won't stop running.  I have the heat set to 68 degrees, but it's now currently at 82 degrees in the house.  I have a gas combi boiler, water baseboard heating system.

2.  I can't connect it to the WiFi because it says my battery is low.  It's hard wired into the wall, why is the battery an issue?

Hi @Frank27!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you are having with your Nest thermostat. I can see that it will turn on the HVAC system, but when it gets to the temperature that you set, it won't stop; it will keep working. It also won’t connect to WiFi and gives you a message about a low battery level. Let me help you with this.

To better assist you, I need some extra information. Here are some questions for you:

  • What is the exact model of your Nest thermostat?
  • When did the issue first occur?
  • Is the thermostat’s display seated properly on its base?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

In the meantime, I will suggest you charge the device for almost 3 hours. You can pull it from its base, and you will find the charger port in the back of the device; you will need to connect it to a power outlet. It depends on the model of your Nest thermostat, the cable that you will need.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Daniel.
