My nest thermostat just stopped recording history use.

My 2nd generation nest thermostat just stopped recording history use. I have cleared the cache and reinstalled the app.  All other functions are working properly.

please help

I have this same issue. History is showing on the device, but not on the app. I have restarted the device and uninstalled and reinstalled Nest app and Google Home apps but it still isn't working.

  • When did the issue start?
  • Did you try to restart your Nest Thermostat?
  • Do you see the Energy history in the thermostat display?

The issue started for me last week, maybe Friday or Saturday?

Yes, I've restarted the device twice, but that did not resolve the issue.

Yes, I can see energy history on the device but not in the app itself.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the detailed information you provided and the troubleshooting steps you've already taken. I'm happy to continue assisting you with this issue.

Please try the following steps:

  • Perform a factory reset on your Nest Thermostat.
  • Remove your Nest Thermostat from the Nest app.
  • Reconfigure the thermostat within the app as if it were a new device.
  • Create new schedules and then check your Energy History after 48 hours to see if the data is visible.

Please let me know if you are able to complete these steps and if the issue is resolved.

I had the same problem as ChristineN and CamTK.  Uninstall/reinstall didn't help.  After about two weeks of it not displaying the energy usage, it suddenly started again this morning (it didn't show it yesterday morning).  So somehow it's working again.  I couldn't tell if the app updated or not sometime over the past 24hours.

Mine also resolved on its own on Wednesday.

Guessing it was an app glitch that has magically been fixed!!  Yeah!
