NEST app not connecting to thermostat

Louise13
Community Member

My app stopped connecting with the thermostat several months ago but it is in another location so only now have a chance to try and see what the problem is in person.
I have the ability to put home or away but can not see the temperature or adjust the settings for the temperature.

I have gone through all the suggested solutions but to no avail

Hello Louise13,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Community Forum. I’m sorry to hear your thermostat is not connecting to the Nest app. So, don't worry; I’m here to assist you.

I'd like to ask you a few questions in order to gather more information about the concern and find the best way to help.

  • What model of thermostat do you have? If you’re unable to recognize it, for your reference, check out this article: How to tell which Nest thermostat you have
  • Are you able to see an error code or notification on the thermostat?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far?

If you have any more information that could be helpful, please let me know.

Best regards,

Daniel

There is no error code and I am not down at the apartment until Christmas time. It seems to be the same issue as others have had but can not see how this has been resolved for them.

I have taken all the trouble shooting steps recommended with no change to the situation.

Is it worth factory setting it and starting again?

Hey Louise13,

Thank you so much for keeping me updated. So before proceeding to perform a factory reset, let's explore more options.

To continue providing you with more information and troubleshooting tips, could you please answer these questions?

  • What is the exact model of the thermostat that is experiencing this behavior? Here's a reference article: How to tell which Nest thermostat you have
  • What's the software version of your thermostat?
  • Can your other devices find your Wi-Fi network name?
  • Do you only have one WiFi network, or are there others?
  • Can your other Wi-Fi-capable devices (phone, tablet, computer) connect to the internet through your Wi-Fi network?
  • Has there been any recent change in the home Wi-Fi network?
  • When attempting to re-establish the internet connection on the thermostat, what exact message or notification is displayed?
  • How far is the thermostat from your Wi-Fi network?

This information will be beneficial in continuing to provide further assistance. I'll be looking for your response.

Best regards,

Daniel
