Nest 2nd Gen no light

Hi,

We've recently moved into a house with a nest set up for heat and hot water. It was working fine so I left it alone until I realised the radiators were coming on and it’s summer here. I attempted to connect to the thermostat through the app and went through all the stages only for it to say failed at what I think was the end stage something about not being able to connect to Nest. I thought I’d try again tomorrow. Unfortunately the nest thermostat now says it can’t pair with the heat link and the heat link doesn’t have a light/wont reset when I try. I believe it has power there’s nothing flipped on my circuit breakers but I no longer have hot water. Boiler is off and the nest heat link doesn’t respond to anything I’ve tried.

any help appreciated!

thanks

Hi @AmyR1,

Thanks for posting on the community page. I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties connecting your Nest Thermostat to your Heat Link, as you're receiving a "failed to connect" error message and the Heat Link won't reset or display a light. I understand this is concerning, especially since your circuit breakers haven't tripped, but you no longer have hot water, your boiler is off, and the Heat Link isn't responding. I appreciate the detailed information you've shared. Don't worry, let's work together to get this resolved. To better support you, I have a few questions:

  • What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Please use the following article to check the model: How to tell which Nest thermostat you have.
  • When were your Nest Thermostat and Heat Link installed?
  • Are you seeing any wiring reports or error codes on your Nest Thermostat or the Nest app?
  • Have you recently had service or maintenance on your electrical, plumbing, or heating system?
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far?

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Cheers,
Jonathan
