Nest 3rd Gen Redirect URI mismatch??

A_2987

Hi

We have installed the Nest 3rd Generation Learning Thermostat earlier today. It was working fine on my phone as I was the only person using it at the time and learning how to operate it.

I tried to add a family member, and the Nest app prompted me to download the Google Home app. After doing so, I invited my family member to join the household and began to start linking my Home app with the thermostat.

After multiple attempts, the same error message kept popping up "redirect_uri_mismatch". I have read some old threads on here about this but it is still very unclear to me on how to get around this.

Can anyone please direct me in what I should be doing? Do I have to use a brand new Google account? Is there an easy way to get around this as I would like all my family members to be added to the Home app and able to use the thermostat.

Thanks in advance!

When you install a Nest Learning Thermostat in the Google Nest app, it should AUTOMATICALLY appear in the Google Home app, as long as it's in the same Google Nest "home/structure" and you've assigned it to a "room". (You do NOT install it in the Google Home app.)

However, quite a few customers in this forum are reporting this isn't happening. Many of these customers have done this to fix the problem: In the Google Nest app, create a temporary second Google Nest "home/structure". Then go to that empty second Google Nest "home/structure" in the Google Home app and delete it. It seems this forces the 2 apps to sync and the thermostat then appears in the Google Home app.

Hi

Thank you for the advice. I have tried this today and it hasn't worked. The thermostat has not appeared in the Google Home app.

Is there another way around this? I am really keen to get this up and running as soon as.

Thank you again for your help.

I'm just another Google Nest customer. Several customers in the last few days have used the above workaround to get their thermostat to appear in the Google Home app.

Are you logging into the Google Home app with the same Google Account you are using to log into the Google Nest app?  Is your thermostat assigned to a "room" in the Google Nest app?
