I ran across an old post on this subject and now it's also happening to me. I run my fan 24/7 which requires me to set a fan schedule. I have no idea why when it's not scheduled to go on or off, just run 24x7. When I do that, the humidifier symbol vanishes. Like the original poster said, I'd rather have the other symbol. Is there anyway to correct this?

Hello MAB1,
I understand your frustration with the Nest Thermostat not displaying the humidifier water icon. It seems like you're running into complications, especially with the fan schedule affecting the visibility of the humidifier symbol.
Running the fan constantly shouldn't impact the display of the humidifier symbol. However, it's possible that there might be a setting that needs adjustment. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions or updates, feel free to share them here.
Best regards,
Mark

I have done most of that numerous times. The Humidifier is running fine, just no symbol. The only thing I haven't done is factory reset. I'll try that and see what happens. Thanks

Hey there,
You're welcome! It's great to hear that the humidifier itself is running fine. Hopefully, the factory reset will help resolve the issue with the missing symbol. If you encounter any further difficulties or have additional questions, let me know. I'm here to assist you.
Thanks,
Mark

I did the factory reset and reinstalled the nest app and got it all set up except for the fan schedule. Everything looked good. I had the humidifier running and it showed the water drop icon. Then I turned on the fan schedule to run the fan 24x7 and the display changed to the fan symbol. If I turn the fan schedule off, the icon comes back on.

A follow up to this. This morning I removed the fan schedule and the water droplet popped right up. The next heat cycle, it also came right up. I then turned the fan schedule back on but for only to 45 minutes per hour. The water droplet stayed on. No fan symbol. So in a bit, the heat cycled off, but the droplet remained on. I would have assumed that the fan icon would come on as the humidifier shuts down when the heat stops. But in this case what had happened is that the heat had stopped, but not the humidifier. I restarted the thermostat and put the fan cycle back to 24x7. Everything is back to the ways it was, Everything working, just no indication that the humidifier is on. I don't understand why they can't put separate symbols for each device. It doesn't have to be on the thermostat itself, but maybe in the app as I look at that more.

Hi MAB1,
Thank you for providing a detailed update on the situation. It's great to hear that the factory reset and reinstallation resolved most of the issues. However, it seems like there's still an issue with the fan schedule affecting the display of the humidifier icon.
It's interesting to note that adjusting the fan schedule seems to impact the visibility of the humidifier icon. Your suggestion about having separate symbols for each device in the app makes sense. It would certainly provide users with clearer and more specific information about the status of individual devices. With this, please let our product team know about this by sharing your feedback.
Thank you for keeping me informed about the progress, and let me know if you have more questions.
Best,
Mark

To share my feedback required me to download the Google Home app. I had never heard of it. Lo and behold that app gives all pertinent settings and information that the thermostat itself and the Nest app don't. It shows the fan running and also has text across the top of the screen that says "Humidifying". Maybe the nest app and thermostat will catch up.

Ran across something interesting today and explains why the humidifier was still running even tho the heat was off mentioned earlier in this thread.
During the total reset I did at the start of this investigation, the type of humidifier I had was changed from "humidifier heat" to "Humidifier" I went into the nest app this morning and instead of water drop icon it showed "Humidifier running" and when you go to the Humidifier settings it showed the % it was set at instead of the sliding bar with the droplets. This was repeated on the windows app. The Google home app always showed that information. You turn it back to Humidifier Heat, and it reverts. I have read a lot on here and other places on the web about the sliding adjustment bar when you don't know what the percentages are, and a few not getting the water droplet because the fan was running. I actually thought the had fixed the app. But unfortunately, I don't have a steam humidifier that can run without the heat on, so I have reset it to Humidifier Heat. When you do that you lose the % setting and the display of Humidifier Running. It would be really nice if they can have all that info on both of Humidifier settings. You need that info whatever the type of humidifier is set at. I don't see how that should be so hard. I'm sure every one that had the complaints would be grateful. If you could submit this to the proper folks, I'd appreciate it. Sharing feed back you gave me is way to complicated.

Hello MAB1,
I appreciate your detailed exploration of the Nest app and your experience with the Google Home app. It's intriguing to discover the additional information and settings available through the Google Home app, especially regarding the "Humidifying" status and fan activity.
Your observation about the humidifier type switch from "Humidifier Heat" to "Humidifier" during a total reset is quite insightful. It's unfortunate that switching back to "Humidifier Heat" leads to the loss of certain display details. I'd suggest sharing your insights and suggestions directly with our product team. They might appreciate your detailed feedback to improve the app's functionality for everyone.
Thank you for sharing your experience, and I hope the app evolves to meet your expectations and those of other users.
Best regards,
Mark

I'd like to send them this thread as it describes the situation perfectly. Unfortunately, the methods given in the link you gave me do not provide a way of doing it. I also searched for way to copy and paste this thread and send it to them, but was unsuccessful. Could you give me an email address or link to where I can do that instead of using my phone?
Thanks
