I have a forced air heat system with whole home humidifier attached to the furnace return. Prior to switching to the Nest, my thermostat was smart enough only to turn on the humidifier when a call for heat was active. Now the Nest runs the humidifier constantly (in addition to the fan) until the setpoint is reached. This is a massive waste of water and electric to keep the fan running, and it's extremely unlikely the setpoint will ever be reached using low fan speed and cool air.
Prior generation Nests had the option for "Heat+Hum" I believe it was, but I can no longer find that setting. I've seen several others on this forum post this issue with no reply (or a canned AI generated response from Google, which I'm expecting here) - was hoping someone had some more insight into this. Is it available as a Pro setting?
