I have NEST 4th gen learning thermostats in my building. They are connected to AC units which work fine the issue is that in the winter we turn on heat coils in the AC ducts which allow us to blow warm air until the temps drop low enough to turn on the steam boiler (separate system altogether) . The NEST units obviously cannot detect the heat coils because they are independent to the system. Is there a way i can configure the wiring on the thermostat so that it thinks there is something that can generate heat ? All i want to do is to be able to use the heat function to control the fan based on the temp schedule. Any help would be great - the old honeywell units we had in here were able to do this - i think because they were not as smart as the nests and did not auto-detect what was connected to them.
Any help would be appreciated i have read some solutions on other forums but they seemed more of a hack than a proper solution
