When we experience a quick power outage, the ac compressor starts making a buzzing noise until inshut it off wait three minutes or so and turn it back on. Does the thermostat have a delay timer for this condition?

When you have power outage everything goes off and there’s usually is a delay when power comes back on just like if you have the AC on at a certain temp setting you adjust it to turn off and then if you turn it back low you’ll get a delay. It’s to avoid short cycle on your compressor. The buzzing sounding can be a contactor or compressor not coming on when you call for AC

Possibly bad capacitor or other defective parts. Good luck

Hi folks,
@Akewldewd, thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. I want to check and see if you are still in need of any help. If so, let me take a look at this for you.
What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Please gather the settings under Settings > Technical Info > Power (Battery, VOC, VIN, and lIN) if you have the Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E, and Settings > Equipment > Power Info (VIN, IIN, PS-*) if you have the Nest Thermostat 2020. Also, a clogged filter might cause a similar symptom. If the air filter is dirty and needs to be changed, replace the filter and let us know if the same thing still happens. Refer to this article for more details.
I'll look forward to your response.
I appreciate your help, @HVAC.
Best,
Zoe
