Nest E uk thermostat stuck on app screen

Hi i have purchased nest E trying to set it up in the app, the thermostat shows the download app icon, which i have as i have lots of nest devices, yet the app will not find it no matter how hard i try, tried resetting the stat, uninstalling the app reinstalling to no avail?

so what can i do about this?

 

i had to charge it with the usb on the rear of it as it would not power on at first too

I understand you're having issues setting up your Nest Thermostat E, as the Nest app is unable to find it even after performing troubleshooting steps like resetting the thermostat and reinstalling the app, and you initially had to charge it via USB to power it on. To better understand the cause for the issue, please provide the information requested below:

  • Has the device been paired before?
  • When and from where was the device purchased?
  • How far have you gotten in pairing your device?
  • How far is the device from the router?
  • Can you connect to the internet with other devices?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device you want to pair?
  • Are you trying to set up your thermostat from an iPhone or Android phone?

I recommend that you check the permissions for the Nest app on your phone and make sure all permissions are enabled. Then, follow all the setup steps in the app as indicated in the article How to set up your Nest thermostat (3rd gen or earlier) and Nest Thermostat E.

Has the device been paired before?  No was sealed

When and from where was the device purchased? Gift some time ago couldn't say

How far have you gotten in pairing your device? Inputting last 4 digits of serial, no place to input, just spinning circle

How far is the device from the router? 3 feet

Can you connect to the internet with other devices?  Yes with ease

Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device you want to pair? No

Are you trying to set up your thermostat from an iPhone or Android phone?

My apologies for the delayed response. Thank you for providing all the information requested.

Since the issue you're experiencing is with a Nest Thermostat E, try to move the assisting device (your phone) as close as possible to the thermostat, restart both devices, and complete the setup process through the Nest app.

Thank you for replying and confirming you have followed the troubleshooting provided.

Please perform a manual restart on your thermostat by following the steps below:

  1. Press and hold the thermostat ring until the display turns off.
  2. Release the thermostat ring.
  3. Press the thermostat ring once to begin the startup process again.

Only so many times I can do this reset it's the same result no matter what
