Nest Learning Thermostat Early-On not preheating

Early on used to preheat as expected but I changed my heat pump balance from max savings to off. I know that Early-On has to learn how long it takes to heat up to a temp so it knows when to start and that initially it won't preheat during that period. But it's been over a week now and still isn't preheating, how long should I expect it to take to learn? I'm assuming since I changed heat pump balance it has to re-learn. I also don't want to change my settings again and then it take another week+ to relearn. What specifically causes early on to have to relearn (changing heat pump balance, aux heat lockout, compressor lockout)? With our current heating schedule, it normally doesn't reach the set temp by the time the schedule lowers the temp back down so would that also be an issue for it learning since it never reaches the actual set temp and therefore can't determine how long it takes to heat up to a certain temp?
