Nest Learning Thermostat Won’t connect to Wifi

SimonB2
Community Member

Hi there hoping for done help please.

I’ve recently changed to BT fibre connection and my best has stopped working. I’m not sure if it’s just a coincidence though.

All other devices in the house are fine. My thermostat just says not connected, will not connect if you type in the details and will also not connect to a no iPhone hotspot.

I have done all the resets with router and nest thermostat but no joy.

Please help!

Simon

I believe you'll have to replace this thermostat since it's not detecting any WiFi networks in your location, right? Do you remember when you bought this device?

Hello SimonB2,

Did you try to check and modify the router settings after switching your Internet service provider? The issue might be on the settings. If that's the case then you may contact your ISP Provider to make some adjustments.

  • Enable 802.11 b/g/n if you have an 802.11 ac router.
  • Set your Wi-Fi router's DHCP lease time to at least 2 hours.
  • Turn on your router's Power Save Mode (PSM), if you have a Nest thermostat.
  • Enable IPv6, if you have a Nest Protect.
  • On your Wi-Fi router, turn on multicast, if you're adding additional Nest devices.

I am facing the same issue but I didn’t change any provider and I am using Google Routers but still Thermostat is not connecting to WiFi. Tried connecting manually by adding the name and password but it fails straight away.

Seems like a lot of people are having the same issue while looking at the community posts.

any help will be appreciated! Thanks in advance

Hey folks,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out. Does the thermostat display show any error codes or messages? Do you only have one Wi-Fi network, or are there others? Does your thermostat see other Wi-Fi networks nearby? Are you trying to connect to the 2.4 GHz or the 5 GHz network? How far away is the thermostat from the router? Also, are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the thermostat?

Looking forward to your response.

I appreciate the help, Serialc00kie.

Thanks,

Archie

Hi Archie,

Thermostat display w5 error and nothing else. Tried different WiFi but straight away it fails to connect. Now it’s showing Unable yo connect network. It’s not showing any list of network at all. My other Google devices are connected fine to Google router.

No other devices are causing interference.

any help is appreciated
