I just installed my Nest Learning Thermostat, It set up fine, but it currently states that my indoor temperature is 76 when its clearly around 68. Does the sensor need to be calibrated? How can I troubleshoot this?

Hi shreyas_s,

Thanks for reaching out — I'd like to help. Sometimes (especially soon after installation), the sensors on the Nest thermostat might not be calibrated . A simple restart should be sufficient to recalibrate the sensors and show an accurate value. On the thermostat’s display, go to Settings ResetRestart. The thermostat takes a few moments to restart and boot back up.

Also, direct sunlight can cause the Nest thermostat temperature sensors to heat up, so the thermostat may think that the ambient temperature in the room is higher than it is. Enabling the Sunblock feature will help.

Check out the guide below:

  1. Open the Nest app select the thermostat.
  2. Go to Settings Nest SenseSunblock.
  3. If Sunblock is off, turn it on by the slider Off.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Jenelyn
