Nest Learning Thermostat doesn't always shut off fan when set temp is reached

johnpeet

Installed a couple of weeks ago.  Everything seemed to be working fine, but last few days been noticing that fan stays on (or compressor shuts off) at end of cooling cycle (set temp reached).  Fan stays on for 10-15 minutes, humidity increases from 46 to 56, and, then, compressor turns on again.  Next cooling cycle, both, fan and compressor, turn off.

While this is happening, Nest displays it is cooling, and history shows as if it was cooling the whole 45-60 minutes.

No Airwave symbol (disabled it to test).

Also, while compressor is off and fan on, temp never goes above set temp, but humidity does.

Doesn't happen all the time, but a few instances during the day.

Any ideas...

Hi Johnpeet,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

We apreciate all the details you've shared. A few things we'd like to ask-- can you tell us what type of thermostat are you using? Also, when did the issue start to happen? Lastly, can you tell us if you have tried any troubleshooting steps after you notice it?

We'd like to get more details regarding this so we can start some troubleshooting steps that might resolve this.

Best,

Princess

Nest Learning Thermostat v.3. Tried disabling settings/sensors, resetting unit, resetting to original factory settings.  Nothing.  Bought a new Nest Learning Thermostat v.3, but issue remained.  Nest displays no error message. Power seemed on the low end of range at 3.67v and Lin at 20 mA, so connected a C-wire to both AC unit and Nest.  Power readings went up to 3.94v and 200 mA, and system seemed to be working fine.  No more issues with fan staying on after temp. reached.  However, that lasted for a couple of days, and, today, it happened again.

Hey johnpeet,

Sorry for the late reply. I wanted to follow up with you, and see if I could be of any help. If the fan on the HVAC equipment is running when the Nest thermostat is removed from the base, there is a chance it could be an HVAC problem. If that is the case, I would recommend contacting a pro for further help to ensure the system is working properly.

Best regards,

Jake
