Nest Thermostat - Attach display to base

My Nest Thermostat has gone blank. I have pressed the screen and it says to "attach the display to the base" despite the fact it is plugged in to the socket.

At one point is said "The Thermostat is Restarting. Back in a bit" but it did nothing and is now on the screen which says "Please attach the display to it's base" which is not possible as it is connect to the socket.

I'm having to manually turn on the heating by the device connected to the boiler and have no ideai how to reset the thermostat as it seems to be an issue with the device.

Your thermostat is fully charged and is asking to be reinstalled on the wall base plate.  Once on the back plate it does not come to life, press and hold the display for a minute to force a hard reboot.

Thanks for reaching out to us here @Mr_M4rcy . I would be happy to try and assist.

How long has the thermostat been installed for and when did you first notice this behavior? Have there been any power outages or any other events before this behavior occurred?

Thank you for your suggestions @CoolingWizard . Since this is a EU unit it can be installed wired or wirelessly. The base plate in this case is attached to the stand the thermostat display is on and powered by a power adapter.

Thanks. The problem seemed to resolve itself after I plugged it out for a few moment s and plugged back in after long pressing the thermostat.
