Nest Thermostat E Display Won’t Turn On

I must be doing something wrong here….

I have purchased a second hand (known to work) Nest Thermostat E but the display (the component that shows the temperature etc) won’t turn on (i.e doesn’t light up with a little house) when plugged in so I can’t set it up.

I’m sure I must be doing something wrong now as I tried purchasing the same item from a store the other week (brand new) and it did the same thing, but when I took it back to the store they tried the others they had in stock and none of them worked either so we put it down to a batch issue - I even tried another local store and theirs wouldn’t turn on either. But now I’m thinking it is me that’s setting it up wrong.

I’ve tried following the YouTube video by Google on how to set it up but I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
Has anyone else had this problem before?
Do I need to set up the heat link first?

please help…

A Nest E should power up from a usb, if you have one with micro usb connector. It sounds like you do not have a C wire.

Thanks this has helped my get the display working but it won’t connect to WiFi now 🤦‍♀️

So latest is….

I’ve managed to charge the thermostat monitor up a bit by removing it from the stand and charging it with a micro USB and now it works 🙌

however… now I’m having trouble connecting it to the WI-FI and I get error message code TD004.

I’ve tried resetting my router, turned the thermostat display on and off a few times and have reset the thermostat display by pressing and holding the display button until the Google ‘G’ symbol comes up - but still no luck.

anyone else have an other suggestions?

Yes I have thanks. Unfortunately the advice for the code I’m getting hasn’t fixed the issue

Dear,

The installation has been done by a professional. The problem is that the power in and out doesn't work.
