Nest Thermostat E wired incorrectly, please help :P

Hi Good day Nest Community!

I am hoping that someone can help me with the correct wiring for my heat/cooling unit in my condominium. It is an electric heat/cooling system.

The issue that I am having is that my heater keeps short cycling ... The nest thermostat sometimes has the furnace running and fan going although no heat comes from the vent and inevitibly and eventually it starts to switch off and back on again.

Try changing the OB output settings it has A or B so try the opposite of what it's set at now.

Go into the equipment settings on the nest to change it.

Hey Houptee thanks very much for the response.

I connected the brown wire not being used in the picture to the "C" port on the Nest and so far it is working fine again.

You need to go to the air handler and take the cover off then you will see what thermostat wires are connected to the screws and verify if brown is actually attached to the C screw otherwise it is not doing anything. Post a picture of the wires at the air handler.

Appreciate the response.

What you're saying makes 100% sense, I agree. But if it solved the problem, is there any risk? Nest is reading that as a "constant 24v source" which I had briefly read could be the culprit.

Hi there,

CozyNest, we saw your post and wanted to chime in. Do you have a heat pump system? Could you help me with the make and model of your HVAC system?

I'll look forward to your response.

Thank you Houptee for your help.

Regards,

Jenelyn

You can go to the Nest and tap go to settings, equipment, Power info

It will show Vin (voltage should be 24v or more)  lin (current in mA should be 350 ish) and PS C- (should match lin)

Hi there,

I'm checking back in. Were you able to check your thermostat's power readouts suggested by Houptee? If equipment option isn't available, you can also check the readouts under "Technical Info" settings.

I'd be glad to hear from you. We'd like to make sure everything is working.

I appreciate your continued support Houptee.

Regards,

Jenelyn
