Nest Thermostat Error E183

rjw705

've been getting the E183 error lately and the thermostat is saying that there's an issue with Y1. Tried looking at the wiring at the thermostat and it's fine and all the other wiring is good. Is this an overcurrent issue where a new thermostat is needed all together?

Hi rjw705,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation.

Yes, the E183 error means that your Nest Learning Thermostat is experiencing an overcurrent in its Y1 terminal. To sort this out, turn off the power to your HVAC system, remove your thermostat display from its base, and then kindly disconnect the Y1 wire. Insert the Y1 wire into the hole on the wall where it won't touch other thermostat wires. Place the thermostat display back on its base and turn on the power of your HVAC system. After that, check if the same error persists or if there are any.

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe
