Nest Thermostat Ignores Away Status

Recently installed and love the Nest Thermostat.  I built schedules that worked fine.  Then when leaving the house the Nest would go to Eco mode and stay there as expected.  Recently, seemingly after an Android update, the schedule on the Nest continues to change the thermostat despite the Away status being applied.  Now, when I come home after staying at work late, the heat has been on for a few hours.  I thought the Away status trumped the schedule.  Anyone else have this experience?

Yes I've been experiencing the exact same problem. Home/Away Assist is on, it recognises when I'm 'Away' yet doesn't automatically put the heating in Eco Mode. Hope whatever is causing it is fixed soon!

I'm for any inconvenience that Home/Away Assist may have caused you both — let's see what's going on.

To isolate:

• Could you tell us what type of Nest Thermostats you have?
• Is anyone in your family able to access it by inviting them in the Google Home app?
• What are the make and model of phones used for the setup?
• Make sure location services are turned on for any contributing mobile devices.
• Check the Nest app's Activity History (Settings > Home/Away Assist > Activity History) or the Google Home app's Activity feed (lower right hand tab).
  • This should provide an explanation of when and why the home or away state changed over the previous 10 days.
