Nest Thermostat Intermittent Power

Has anyone else experienced this and is there a solution. Just bought a new home with a Nest and the following wiring configuration W, Y, G, R, C (a blue wire), OB. It is connected with my wifi and has the Matter App installed (no idea what that does). Recently, in the evenings, the device has "shut down" showing "No Power", I check the device, and the wiring set-up shows as greyed out. I check to ensure the HVAC system is still on, flip the circuit breakers, check the condensation pan to ensure the limit switch is not tripped, go back restart Nest and nothing. Restart Nest and nothing, Factory reset and nothing, Pull the Nest, all wires still connected, use a multimeter to check the wires...nothing, but was working fine during the day.

All set to call a "Nest Pro" in the am to check wiring, get up and everything is fine, power good, wiring set-up is illuminated.

I have checked to ensure there is no routine set-up from the previous owner, checked schedule settings, nothing obvious to me that will explain why it has shut down with "No Power" in the evening and then starts back up during the day.

Hi There!

Thank you for posting in the community! I’m sorry to hear that your Nest Thermostat is intermittently turning on and off your HVAC system. I’ll be more than glad to help you to solve this issue.

  • Before we start, could you please provide the following information?
  1. What is the model of your Nest Thermostat?
  2. Are you using the Nest App or the Google Home App to control your thermostat?
  3. When was the last time that your HVAC received maintenance?

In the meantime, you can take a look at the following article: Troubleshoot a "No power" alert on a Nest thermostat (E298, E448 or M20 help code).

Keep me posted,

Best regards,

Derick.
