Nest Thermostat N262 Error

I installed a Nest Thermostat about a month ago, but have had to replace the batteries twice when receiving the N262 error code. Based on other articles, it sounds like others have had the same issue. My old thermostat had white to white, green to green, red to red and blue to yellow. I hooked it up the same way for the Nest thermostat. It also has a yellow wire that was not connected to anything and I left it unconnected. I'm wondering if yellow should be connected to yellow or if there's another way to wire it that will resolve this issue?

Hi @pjflesher6364,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you're experiencing repeated battery drain and the “N262” error code on your Nest Thermostat, even after replacing the batteries twice. I'm happy to assist.

To gather the necessary information, please answer the following questions:

  • Could you please provide a picture of your current and previous thermostat's wiring?
  • What type of HVAC system do you have?

I'll be waiting for your reply.

Best regards.

Derick.
