Nest Thermostat Stuck in Factory Reset, cannot update new router name / wifi

I couldn't get the thermostat, Nest model 1.4, device 6416600645B1301 to change the name and password for the new wifi router. It wanted to connect to my android phone, and that failed. I need it to connect to the router. So I used the dial on the thermostat to start a factory reset. Batteries are good. I took batteries out & put them back in again. It is stuck saying "Continue setup in google home app." There is no clear path in the google home app to continue set up. I was able to change one of the wifi names and passwords back to the old one. But the Nest isn't even able to pick up the old wifi info. The thermostat is flashing and I cannot control the home temperature. I restarted my phone also. I looked all over the help forums. If Nest had live phone or chat support, we would have solved this problem 90 minutes ago. I really need help to use the thermostat.

Hi @ThermostatUser2,

Thanks for posting in the community forum. I'm sorry to hear you've had such a frustrating experience with your Nest thermostat, and I'd be more than happy to look into this further for you to help provide a solution. To help me with that, I have a few questions:

  • What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
  • Can your thermostat see other networks?
  • Has your thermostat ever connected to your network?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the thermostat?
  • Are there any error codes or error messages?
  • Please share a picture of the error displayed on your Nest thermostat.

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Regards,
Jonathan
