I strongly recommend that customers avoid this product. I am big fan of other Nest products but the thermostat needs tremendous work. After having mine for a few years this thermostat started cycling on/off signals to the AC and damaged the compressor in my HVAC. My HVAC is roughly 5 years and was/is under warranty. Regardless, I am out $1500 in labor and other non-covered costs. The HVAC technician quickly realized the cause was the thermostat.
My thermostat is out of warranty and Google will not offer any kind of support or compensation. However, the fact that a thermostat can cause this level of damage is a major defect. Multiple members have expressed similar issues even with newer models.
