Hi there

having issues with my thermostat

basically its saying my house temp 20.5 degrees which i find impossible as its freezing

outside temp is 11 degrees

also i live in scotland & and its the end of September.

the thermostat is in the hallyway and ots about 5 feet from front door

the hall is very cold also

so thermostat is saying 20.5 so im having to put it up to 21 for heating to kick in which im not happy about as it should be able to kick in at around 17-18 as the house is cold enough i feel.

im at my wits end with this as ive tried resetting the app (twice) and also reset wifi

Hello @DerekM83

Thanks for reaching out to our Nest Community. Apologize for all the inconvenience for this incorrect temperature with your Nest Thermostat 3er gen.

Don´t worry, I'm here to help you with that.

Let's troubleshoot your thermostat. First, ensure Sunblock is enabled.

  • On your thermostat, go to Settings > Nest Sense > Sunblock.
  • Select "Yes" to activate Sunblock.

Direct sunlight can interfere with temperature readings. If the situation persists, try disconnecting your thermostat from Wi-Fi for 24 hours:

  • Go to Settings > Network > Disconnect.
  • Monitor the temperature readings.

If the readings return to normal after 24 hours, your Wi-Fi router might be causing the problem.

However, please let me know if your situation is still there; I'm here to find a solution for you.

Best regards,

Douglas.
