Nest Thermostat temp not accurate and shows humidity level at 0%

We had an issue with an e80 error and had an HVAC serviceman out to find a faulty wire causing reduced power to the unit on the roof. We are in a five story condo. Since the repair, the nest unit is showing about a 5 degree difference and shows 0% humidity and we live in south Florida. I have tried resetting the unit but nothing changes.  The software is up to date. the device is the Nest Learning Thermostat Version 3. Any help is appreciated.

Hi memig000,

Thanks for reaching out — I'd love to help. Could you please check the Signal strength of your thermostat by going to Settings then Technical Info and Network? Also, please give these steps a whirl:

Turn on Sunblock

  1. Open the Nest app > select your thermostat.
  2. Go to Settings > Nest Sense > Sunblock.
  3. If Sunblock is off, turn it on by the slider.

Check if your thermostat is near:

  • Air vents that direct warm air
  • Appliances (that includes large televisions)
  • Electrical outlets
  • Plumbing (hot water pipes in old buildings are frequently not insulated)
  • Warm air in the wall
  • Other potential heat sources

Reseat your thermostat display

  1. Remove the thermostat display from its base for about 5 seconds.
  2. Reattach the display.
  3. Wait for 10 seconds.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Jenelyn

Hello there,

Thanks for the help, Jenelyn.

@memig000, I'm checking back in — how's it going? Have you managed to gather the details above? Please let us know the status so we can move forward.

Regards,
Mark

Hey Mark.... Sorry. i didn't see the earlier post. The signal strength is 78. And none of the above mentioned apply. It is still running about 4 degrees too warm (actual temp is 73 and best states 69) plus the humidity level shows 0%.

Hi there,

Thanks for letting us know. Let's sort this out.

Try disconnecting your thermostat from your Wi-Fi network for 24 hours. Go to your actual thermostat's reset settings and then select Network or Account Connection. This will help us easily identify if the WiFi could be the reason for the inaccurate temperature readings. Also, please observe its behavior once it has been disconnected and let us know if there are changes.

Best,

Mark

I hadn't made any changes and overnight the "set to" temp auto changed to 75° it was set at 69°. I will disconnect this evening and let you know tomorrow.

It's me again. I'm checking back in — how's it going? Were there any changes in the humidity level after disconnecting it from your Wi-Fi network?

Keep me posted.

Thanks,

Mark
