Nest Thermostat temperature modes not working

MikeB2115

I recently changed my thermostat from a Honeywell wifi to a nest. After installation of the nest, when it heat mode it blows cool air(seems like it's just the fan working) and when in cool mode it blows hot air. I've seen that other people are having similar issues, and one solution said to check the heat pump. I don't have an O/B connection, so there is no option in equipment to check the heat pump. I've switched back to my Honeywell, and it works correctly. I have 5 wires, G  W  C  Y  R. There were connected exactly the same on my old thermostat and the Nest(No O/B connection).

Hi MikeB2115,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. I'd like to take a closer look at it. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? In what country are you located? Could you please take a photo of the wires connected to your system's control board? Ensure that the labels of the wires are visible. Also, check your thermostat's Equipment in the app.

Check out this guide:

  1. To access the in-app settings, open the Google Home app and then tap the thermostat and then tap Settings .
  2. Under Device Feature, select Thermostat.
  3. Choose Equipment, and check how your thermostat is configured.
  4. Take a screenshot and share it with us.

Best,

Jenelyn

The thermostat is the Nest Thermostat(not the "E" or Learning), and I'm in the US. I no longer have the Nest installed. I went back to the Honeywell WiFi thermostat that was previously in there, and it works fine, so I can't take a picture of the Nest connections. I tried to paste a picture of the Honeywell connections, but I don't have permission to upload images(??). But I have G W C Y and R wires that are connected to those terminals in the Honeywell, and I connected them exactly the same way in the Nest, with only the O/B terminal without a connection.

I did have an HVAC tech come here and he too could not get it to work. I guess I'll just have to stay with the Honeywell  since that seems to be the one that works.

Hey MikeB2115,

We understand. You have the Nest Thermostat 2020, and it's important to set it up on how your system really works in the Google Home app. If you ever change your mind, we'll be here to help.

Regards,

Jenelyn
