Nest Thermostat will not show internal temperature or controls for condo 80 miles away

JayArthur

iPhone only shows home/away options, no controls for internal temperature. Since this condo is in the mountains 80 miles away, I need to be able to adjust temperature before anyone goes there. I've tried  restarting thermostat and other recommendations. No luck.  Restoring thermostat to factory settings sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Ever since conversion to Google, this loss of control using the app is frustrating. As a programmer, this is an epic failure in the transition. App used to work fine, now it doesn't. Makes me uninspired to buy or use Google Home.

I'd suggest getting an app upgrade out to all users to fix this.

Hello @JayArthur

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I apologize for this incorrect temperature on your Nest Thermostat. I appreciate your feedback about this situation. Let me give you a hand to find a solution for you.

To get more context about your case, I would like to know:

  • What type of thermostat do you have?
  • When was the thermostat installed?
  • When did the issue start?
  • How big is the difference between the readout of the Nest thermostat and your thermometer or other thermostats?
  • What is the brand/model of the HVAC/heat pump?

With these details, we can find a solution for this situation.

Feel free to keep us posting.

Best regards,

Douglas.

Most likely Nest 3rd gen installed 2019 I think?

Issue started this summer when forced to convert to Google Login as email login no longer worked.

The thermostat works fine,

Problem: I cannot read or control the internal temperature remotely using iPhone nest app. I can only switch between home and away.

Fix the app to allow remote control of the thermostat.
