Nest Turning on heat tho thermostat not set for more

Nest instructs our furnace to turn on and increase our heat to certain temps even tho we have it set to a much lower temperature at night. I realize there is a function on the app(Auto Schedule ?)  that allows Nest to act on its own based on usage, but we have that option turned off.  So when we have out thermostat set to 63 at night, the furnace will go on in the middle of the night with Nest showing it attempting to get to anywhere from 69 to 72 !! This of course is increasing our heating bill. So far the only remedy we have found is to shut the Next off.  It's almost like Google is in cahoots with the gas company to make money off us, it's that frustrating !

This has also been happening to us since end of December.  At midnight, then 1,2 and 3 AM something overrides the scheduled 58 degrees and blasts heat to 72.  Auto schedule is off, and auto away eco feature is off.  The only thing that stops this is to switch the mode to Off.

STILL Happening.

We've tested it by turning the thermostat OFF some nights and leaving it on some nights, and when left on we've set thermostat heat to 60 degrees or even lower. Regardless when set to ANY temperature, I'll awake in the middle of the night with the furnace blowing and Nest Thermostat trying to reach 67 or 68 or 69 degrees, sometimes 70 - 72.  Again auto schedule is off, and auto away eco feature is off.  Only time it does not automatically turn the furnace on is when we've set the Next to off .  Be nice if Google / Nest manufacturers took calls or read this, maybe they would replace the one we purchased or reply with some explanation, but, they have our money, what do they care.

I have 2 NEST thermostats in 2 different houses, and they BOTH blast on to 72 degrees in the middle of the night even tho set to ECO. I've tried everything. What a waste of energy, money, and wreck my night's sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out — I'm sorry for the delay and for the trouble this may have caused you. What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? You can visit this link to check what type of thermostat you have. Could you please check if there are schedules created automatically? You can follow the steps below:

For Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E:

  1. Thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Choose your Calendar Icon.
  3. Check if there's any schedule created.

For Nest Thermostat 2020:

  1. Go to the Settings in the Google Home app.
  2. Select Schedule.
  3. Check if there's any schedule created.

@PHX_Nester, try to reset your schedule by going to Settings > Reset > Schedule. After that, recreate your schedule then monitor if the issue persists.

@AngryNestUser2, are both of your thermostats the same kind?

Best,

Jenelyn
