Nest compatibility with Zoneaire unit

SOCAL_CELT

I recently purchased a new home that came with a Friedrich Zoneaire heating/cooling wall unit in one of the rooms. I looked at the front of the unit (model PZE09K3SB-A) and it appears I may be able to wire it to my Nest thermostat from my old apartment, I'm attaching some pictures of the unit, does anyone know if this is possible if I buy a wire harness?

Thanks!

Looks like it will work but you will only have one fan speed you have to choose hi or lo when you connect the G wire to the unit.

You don't need a special wire harness you just use 5 conductor thermostat cable from Home depot or Lowes and the green terminal strip has small screws that clamp the wires tight.

C to C

B to O/B

Y to Y

W to W1

G to GL or GH fan speed

@SOCAL_CELT, I hope you've got the answer you're looking for. How's it going? Have you tried installing your Nest Thermostat? If you're still in need of assistance, feel free to let us know.

I wired the thermostat per the instructions above and I will try to attach pictures - the fan operation works but it blows cold air (AC) rather than heat when it gets below the thermostat heat setting. Any ideas why?

You can go into the Nest settings on the app and change the output of the OB wire to the other setting.

It has two choices, if it energizes OB in heat or cooling.

Read this how to change the O/B settings
