Nest gen 4 thermostat doesnt display outdoor temperature on farsight.

Just installed my gen 4 nest replacing a gen 1 nest. I was already using Google home. Everything is installed and working properly except the farsight feature doesn't show the outdoor temperature. The indoor temp. and humidity display. The wifi is connected, linked to my local electrical provider and battery is fully charged. Its been installed for 4 days.

Hi @Jwarnersd1,

Thanks for reaching out here in the community! I understand that four days ago you upgraded your Nest Learning Thermostat (1st gen) to a Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen). Despite the new thermostat working correctly, the Farsight feature only displays the indoor temperature and humidity, not the outdoor temperature. I’d be happy to help with this!

Keep in mind that the Dynamic Farsight feature for the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) is enabled by default and shows the target temperature. However, you have the option to customize the display to show the ambient temperature, time, or current weather instead. To learn more, you can refer to this article: Learn about Nest thermostat displays.

To better investigate the inconvenience, I’d like to ask the following:

  • Have you tried changing the display of the Dynamic Farsight to show the outdoor temperature?
  • Would you mind sharing a picture of what you see on your thermostat display?

Once I have these details, I can assist you more effectively.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

I have it changed to outdoor. Had a cloud with a line thru it and no temp. I asked my google hub what the temperature was wednesday,  now it works. Not sure why
