I recently (like this morning) installed and set up the Gen 4 Nest thermostat, using the Google Home app. Everything went smoothly. But when my wife went to add the device on Google Home on her phone (also a Pixel Android), the app doesn't "see" the thermostat. I checked to make sure we're both on our home network. What am I missing? Does she have to be on my Google account? Thanks. -- David

Hey David , you as the owner would need to invite her to the Google home , so that she can see the devices. Google home, settings, invite a user, enter her email.

David, Thanks so much! I hit on that shortly after I posted yesterday.... but darn. She gets the invite, but can't see the Gen 4 in her devices. I've doublechecked to make sure the household address is the same. Any other thoughts? Thanks. -- David

Make sure the nest thermostat is actually added to your home , and not linked to you. If that doesn't work , depending on the age of the home and or your wife's account , she might want to download the nest app, and try logging in with her account there, as it may be an old nest / Google account migration issue.

Hi @Davidz
To add to Ashepherdson's great advice, there's detailed steps on how to do this here:
How to share your device(s) with others in the Nes… - Google Nest Community

@jacobjohnsons1 @Ashepherdson Thank you both for chipping in with your expertise. After a couple of hours of hair pulling frustration, I figured it out. Previously unbeknownst to me, my wife uses a Gmail inbox, but gives the world (including myself) her yahoo email address, which forwards the mail to the Gmail inbox. Why does she have that set up? Better not to ask. So, the invite I sent to her yahoo address shows up in the gmail inbox, but google home doesn't recognize it b/c it is being accepted from a gmail account (confused yet?). I was about to give up for the day, when inspiration finally hit. I sent the invite directly to her gmail address and.....BINGO. Again, thanks for the help. Maybe you can use this aggravating episode as yet one more possibility when troubleshooting for someone else. -- David

Glad to hear you solved the mystery! The reason that worked is because it must be a Gmail / Google account that you invite to the home. If your wife wanted to created a Google account with her Yahoo email address instead that is possible by following the "Use an existing email address" steps in the following help centre article.
