I got an email today from google saying that they are stopping support for nest thermostats 1/2. The email says there won't be any software updates, which is fine.
But they also say the Nest app won't support it, and I have to buy a new thermostat for a "discounted" price of $149.
Google, don't force me to buy new crap, when the old one is working perfectly fine. Don't kneecap what's already working. If the old device works, keep the old software working too!
Or open the protocol for gen1/2 so I can build my own app.
So anti customer

Agree. They need to see all us early adopters complaining. Why be an early adopter when you are going to be abandoned for profits?

Completely agree. This is completely unnecessary and they need to reverse this decision.

Appreciate the discount, but hope legacy support remains an option.

have you considered the cost of getting this installed? it's not a discount, it's an unnecessary imposition on us, when it doesn't need replacing. probably £2-300 all told.
