Nest just stopped working when on AC

I am getting an E24 error, no power to Rh wire.  I followed all the troubleshooting steps and no luck.  AT first it actually said E30 error, Y1 wire not connected.  I have restarted breaker, charged the Nest and no luck.

There is a breaker box outside near the AC unit.  There is a small old wasp nest inside, but doesn't appear to be causing a problem.  There is a switch but I can not tell if it is off or on or how to move it.

Thanks

Patrick

Hi @pdonnel

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Nest Thermostat. To help diagnose the issue, there are a couple of things you can try:

  1. Check the voltage at the RH wire: Use a voltmeter to measure the voltage between the RH wire and another terminal (like the C wire, if available). This will help determine if the problem lies with the wiring or the base unit itself.
  2. Swap thermostats (if possible): If you have another Nest thermostat of the same model at home, try swapping them. If the issue persists with the replacement thermostat, it points towards a problem with the wiring or power supply.

Additional Information:

  • Last AC Maintenance: When was the last time your air conditioning system received routine maintenance? Regular maintenance can help prevent issues that might affect thermostat functionality.
  • AC Operation: Does your air conditioning unit turn on at all, even if the Nest Thermostat is set to cooling mode?
  • Power Outages: Have you experienced any recent power outages or electrical problems in your area? These can sometimes cause glitches with electronic devices like thermostats.
  • AC Unit Changes: Have you made any recent changes to your AC unit itself, such as adding new equipment or modifications to the existing system?

Please try the troubleshooting steps mentioned earlier and answer these additional questions. The results will help us determine the best course of action for resolving the situation.

All the best,

Josh
