Nest keeps changing temps

Beccare3

I have the learning thermostat but quickly found that I hated that feature. I turned off all of the auto features and set a schedule. Nonetheless, Nest keeps changing my temperatures. I have my nighttime temperature set to 68 and it keeps setting it to 69. I have my heat come on in the morning and set to 70 and it keeps changing it to 73. Home away assist is off. Learning is off. Eco is off. I hate this thermostat. It’d be great if it would stay where I set it, but it does not.

I am having the same issue.

Last winter I was gone for 2 weeks only to come back and see that it was fully heating my house the whole time.

I'm gone during the day and I come back and it's heating my house even though I turned it down before I left.

I don't even what to know how much money this thermostat has cost me.

Yes! I googled and ended up shutting everything off and even adding more temps to the schedule so it would know what temp I want it. 8 this morning it goes to 73 again 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ I don’t know how to make this stop happening but I would never recommend this thermostat to anyone because the learning is terrible, the “away” detection is also terrible, and the manual feature doesn’t seem to work either 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi everyone,

@Beccare3, Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We're sorry for any trouble this may have caused you. Let's see what's going on. There are a couple other reasons why the Nest Learning Thermostat changes the temperature automatically, for example. If you recently turned off the auto-schedule, the previous setup might still be in effect. The same goes if you have already set up a manual schedule and remove it, there might be a chance that it will adjust the schedule accordingly. This is part of the Nest Learning Thermostat algorithm, but it can easily be fixed by starting fresh on the device. Resetting it to factory default and turning off the auto-schedule right away, follow the steps below:

  1. On your thermostat: Go to Nest Learning Thermostat Settings Reset Schedule
  2. Go to Settings Nest settings icon and then Nest Sense and then Auto-Schedule(Turn off Auto-Schedule).

Those steps will help us start fresh and clear out all the schedule and auto-schedule setup on the Nest Thermostat.

You can do the same thing, @At_wits_end. We apologize for any incontinence.

Let us know if that helps.

Best,

Renz

I haven’t recently changed any settings. I made a schedule for every hour and that seems to be working, but kind of ridiculous that I have to set it every hour when I don’t have the temperature changing.

Hello Beccare3,

Thanks for the update. We’ll continue monitoring your case. The temperature change is part of the Nest Learning Thermostat algorithm, but since we can clear it out, it should be able to work accordingly with what you need.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Regards,

Renz
