Nest learning gen 4 no max duration time option for true radiant

Hi everyone...

 I was hoping one of the board experts could advise me.

Just bought a nest gen 4 learning thermostat and the issue relates to early on (forced hot air) and true radient (radiators which i have).

With the gen 3 early on was not available and true radient was and I had an option for how many hours the thermostat could preheat during the night.

Now with the gen 4 both are available and during setup nest program engaged early on and not true radiant.

The only variable was I had a two wire (red and white) and added a c wire which is wired to rh, w and c).

Early on has an option for how many hours to preheat. I can also engage true radiant but there is no option to select how many hour to preheat for.

So, I am a little confused. Anyone have any advice? Thank you in advance for any help...Mike

So I'm not sure if google is allowing early on to work with both forced hot air and radiators (does not make sense because google would have removed true radiant) or there is some software problem that is not showing the max duration time. I also disengaged early on to see if that would allow true radiant to show max duration time which it did not.

• Are the power breakers on, and are you receiving power to your home?
• Was the Nest thermostat recently reset to factory defaults?
• Is there a preheating message on the display?
• Can you send me a picture of the thermostat wiring? 
• What type of HVAC system do you have?

Hi thanks for responding. I owned both gen 1 and gen 3 with no issue with true radient being selected and showing hours to preheat and early on not being selected. All setting are the same on the gen 4 as with the gen 1 and three. All router and boiler hardware is the same. Wires are w1, common and rh. Setting for heating system is also the same propane and radiators. This indicates the issue is not with me, but the nest itself or the google home app software. Could you please forward this to the technical team for thier analysis? The only other conclusion based on the wording on the true radient and early settings page is unbeknownst to us google is now using early on for both forced air and raditor systems.

I did some more debugging. I removed thermostat from google app and reset and reinstalled it. No change. Discovered when forced hot air is selected early on engages and true radient disappears as it should. When radiators is selected system should remove early on and true radient should show which is not happing. So this is clearly a software issue with the google app not implementing the correct options based on the heating system being selected.

To be honest with the very dim display, true radient and early on issues and other google home software errors I have lost faith in this product and will probable be returning the three i purchased. Tanks for your help though...mike
