Nest learning thermostat 4th gen not cooling.

My Nest learning thermostat 4th gen doesn't seem to actually cool my home. I had a Nest licensed professional install it yet even though I have had it set to cool to 62 degrees for over 5 hours, the coolest it's gotten is 72 degrees. What is wrong with this thing?

Hi @Slobbygoo,

Thanks for reaching out here in the community! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Gen) isn't cooling your home. I understand your concern, especially since a Nest Pro installed it and it's been unable to reach 62 degrees for over 5 hours, only reaching 72 degrees. I'd be happy to help!

To continue investigating the inconvenience, I'd like to ask the following:

  • Can you confirm when you installed the Nest Learning Thermostat?
  • What type of HVAC system do you have?
  • When was the last maintenance service for your HVAC system?
  • Is this the first time you've used cooling this year? If so, did the heating function properly during the winter?
  • Do you see a power error code on your Nest Learning Thermostat?
  • Could you send me pictures of both your old thermostat's wiring and the current wiring on the Nest Learning Thermostat?

In the meantime, I'd suggest the following:

  • Check if you have any schedule set for cooling on your Nest Learning Thermostat. For reference, you can check out this article: Temperature schedules for the Nest thermostat.
  • Check the air filter. The HVAC system needs proper airflow to function correctly. A dirty or clogged air filter can restrict airflow over the cooling coils.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
