Nest learning thermostat does not turn outside condenser on unless reset

Noticed that the air coming out of vents was not very warm and noticed that the outside unit is not coming on when the heat is running. From research I tried resetting the system by turning off thermostat and flipping off furnace and AC on breaker box. After 5 minutes I turn everything back on and the outside unit will then turn on. But when the thermostat reaches the desired temp and shuts off once it needs to heat again the outside unit will not come back on. The outside unit only comes on if the system is reset.

Hi Kgraham998,

Thanks for reaching out. I'd love to know more about this. Could you share a photo of your current thermostat's wiring and HVAC's system control board?

Thanks,
Mel

Yes. As soon as I figure out how to add the pictures.

Hi Kgraham998,

Thanks for reaching out —  I saw your post and wanted to chime in. I'm sorry for the delay.

I just want to confirm if you are still experiencing the same issue. Please let me know as I'm willing to assist you from here. Doesn't the green wire connect to your control board?

Also, you can check this article for more information.

Best,

Jenelyn

Hi Kgraham998,

Thanks for the response, I'm sorry that the issue persists. Let's sort this out!

Please move the white wire to W1 terminal and red wire to the RC terminal. Make sure to turn the breaker off before touching the wires. After that, turn the breaker back on then try to test your heating again.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Jenelyn

I did switch the wire like suggested, however, the weather has been warmer this week so the heat has not kicked on. Please keep thread open.

Still is not working correctly.
