I bought a nest thermostat to put in my parents house as they both have dementia and we’re running their heating at 30 degrees constantly.
As the nest can be pin locked I thought this would solve the problem.
when checking the app I could see that the thermostat kept going to manual and the heating was on and the pin lock overwritten!
phoned Customer support and discovered the pin lock can be overwritten from the receiver which renders the pan lock useless unless it inaccessible.
has any body else had this issue and is so any advice?

Hi Simontheplumber,
The situation you described is how the device works. Manual override will work if you physically change the temperature at the base, but the PIN is meant for changing the settings through the app. The idea is that you can manually change things quickly without needing access to a mobile device. While I can see how your situation would demand a more strict control, it's not currently how the device works. I can, however, pass your comments along to our internal teams in the form of a feature request. Aside from that request, is there any other way I can help out?
Thanks,
Jeff
