How can i configure nest "smart" thermostat to not think that i have left the house and turn the temp down? This has been hapening constantly for the past few weeks. I thought turning it back on several times will make it "learn" my pattern of behavior, but so far, the thermostat has been pretty stupid. It switches to eco mode at will, when it shouldn't. I find myself needing to manually adjust it on a daily basis. Except for the app, i don't see anything smart about this thermostat. Maybe I am not using it right. Any solutions? There are absolutely no issues with the connection or wiring or anything of a hardware nature.

Make sure your phone is used for presence sensing

Thanks for the feedback laurentbourg. That option is enabled/active. The problem is, my office is not in the living room where the thermostat is. For now, I turned off the home/away assist as it seems to be the cause of the problem. It's ironic that turning off the "smart" features makes it work better. Any other suggestions?

The Nest uses a combination of your phone and presence sensing sensors on the Nest device itself. So it does not matter if you are not close to the thermostat by being in your office, as long as you don’t leave your house, it should not switch to eco.

I agree with you, but here we are. That's why I'm scratching my head wondering what is going on.
