Nest stopped calling for heat, replaced with a new one, it worked for a week and then stopped.

I have a gen 3 learning nest.  It worked fine at our previous house (cooling unit and LP furnace).  I installed it at the new house (dual fuel heat pump with gas furnace).  It worked fine for a little while and then stopped activating the heat pump for heat, the alt. heat still works.  I bought a new nest unit (same) and it worked for about a week and now can't activate the heat pump.  I had no idea these were such pieces of junk and had such poor support.  I spent hours on the phone with customer service who wanted me to pay to have a "nest pro" install it.  I'm beyond technical.

I don't understand why these work for a while and then stop.  I have read that there is a bug that shows up once you activate alt. heat or eco temps.  Not sure, but definitely don't have time for this BS.

I solved the problem by returning the Nest and getting an Ecobee.  Now everything works as it should.  I was really disappointed with the Nest in a dual fuel system.
