Nest temperature incorrect

Tommak1447

This is my second time having the same exact issue after google had replaced my nest for free the first time.

After a power surge my nest thermostat reads the temperature 15 degrees hotter than it actually is. Using my Klein multi meter the reads temperature. Off of the wall mount on batteries it's only 1 degrees off. But when it receives wall power it jumps from 67 to 83 degrees. With the batteries out on wall power it reads 80+. When the batteries are in will not recognize wall power.

Power to the wall mount is within the acceptable range.

Hi Tommak1447,

Oh no! Sorry to hear about that — this is not what we wanted you to experience. Let me take a look at this for you.

Are you located from North America or Europe? What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? If you have either the Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E, go to Settings > Technical Info > Network and get its Signal strength value. The signal strength has a maximum value of 100. A signal strength of 75 is considered strong, while a value of 36 or lower is considered weak. If you have the Nest Thermostat 2020, when was the last time your thermostat connected to Wi-Fi? And is your thermostat on software version 1.0–6?

Keep us posted.

Best,

Zoe
