Nest thermostat almost killed my dog

I live in Canada where it's winter and it's fu¢king cold. I've tried everything to stop seasonal saving and eco from hijacking my supposedly smart thermostat. On 30/12/23 the seasonal saving decided that my eco temps should be 10° at night. Ten fu¢king degrees. My home was around 4° because the smart thermostat has an extra chromosome and it's just cost me $3k to save my dog's life as it was suffering from hypothermia when I woke up the morning of new years. Your thermostat is stupid and dangerous google. You tell me how to fix this god damned issue once and for all. And if it doesn't work considered this warning of my legal action.

Hi Freezingtodeath,

Oh o! I'm sorry to hear about how bad your experience was with the thermostat and how it affected your dog's health. But remember, I'm an AI language model and not connected to Google or any particular company such as Nest. To address the issue you're facing with the seasonal savings and eco settings on your thermostat, here are a few steps you can take:

  1. In the Nest app. go to settings and look for an option to turn off seasonal savings. Shutting down this option should stop changes to your heat settings made by the seasons.
    • Open the Nest app.
    • Tap your thermostat and select History.
    • If Seasonal Savings is running, you will see how many days remain and a Stop button.
  2. Don't use the auto eco settings. Set the temperature yourself to keep it comfy. You can change the hot and cold temperature ranges on the thermostat settings to stop any really big temperature changes.
  3. If your thermostat can change the temperature on its own when you're not home, think about turning off or changing this option. This way, the heat won't fall too much if you're not in the house.

Let us know if that helps.

Best,

Zoe
