Nest thermostat blowing cold air

Hello guys. I need help. I bought and I installed the nest thermostat on Saturday. We didn’t need either the heat or the cool air so didn’t notice it wasn’t working. Well last night it dropped to -10° and the kids were freezing. The heat setting is just blowing cold air all the time. I checked the wiring and to me it looks ok but I don’t know what I’m looking at to be honest. Can someone help me.

Hello Sheenaf16,

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're facing with your Nest Thermostat, especially with such cold temperatures. It's essential to get the heating issue sorted out quickly. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve issues. Try turning off the thermostat and then turning it back on after a minute or so by going to its settings or by removing its batteries.
  2. Double-check the wiring to make sure it's correctly connected. Each wire should be securely in place. If possible, share with us a photo of your old thermostat and Nest Thermostat's wiring setup.
  3. Make sure your Nest Thermostat has the latest software update. You can check and update the software through the settings.
  4. Verify that your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system is working correctly. If the issue persists, it might be a problem with the HVAC system itself, and you may need to contact a professional technician.
  5. Follow the steps to troubleshoot heat pump issues if you have this type of system.

Let us know how it goes.

Best regards,
Mark
