Nest thermostat compatibility

  • Have a nest thermostat that I was mailed in 2020. I hooked it up this past weekend and Google. Home stated it was not compatible. Attached is the Current thermostat wall wiring. The current thermostat does not use C. I’m not sure if I should order a new nest thermostat Generation 3 or 4. Thanks.

Hi NelsonsNest20,

Thanks for posting in the community! I understand your concern regarding the compatibility of your new Nest Thermostat, especially since the Google Home app indicated it wasn't compatible after you hooked it up. While I appreciate your willingness to share a picture of your wiring, it didn't come through. I can certainly help you figure this out.

To provide you with a proper compatibility assessment, I'll need a little more information from you. Please provide the following details:

  • What is the specific model of the Nest thermostat you hooked up? The help article "How to tell which Nest thermostat you have" can help.

  • What type of HVAC system do you have? (e.g., a gas furnace with central air conditioning, a heat pump, etc.).

Because the picture didn't come through, you have two options for sharing your wiring details:

  • Option 1: Please list all the wire colors connected to your current thermostat and their corresponding terminal labels (e.g., 'Red wire on R,' 'White wire on W').

  • Option 2: Try to upload your picture again. Simply look for the camera icon in the message editor to attach the image.

After I have this information, I can provide you with a more accurate compatibility assessment and appropriate assistance.

Regards,

Humberto
