Nest thermostat no display. Green blinking light. Reset dose not help

Our NEST thermostat has worked great from when we installed it back in December of 2022. A month ago our Nest thermostat had no display. Green blinking light. Reset dose not help.

I put my nest on a usb charger overnight to be sure it had power. No display but blinking green light.

Double checked our heater's wiring. Red to Rh and White to W1.  If I remove the wires and touch them to each other the heater does turn on.

Held thermostat down for 10 seconds to restart. saw the blinking light change colors, then back to blinking green. Still no display, This has been for over an hour.

Hi Hanns_Ullrich,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. I'm sorry for the delay. If the thermostat’s display LED flashes a green light, it means your thermostat is on the software update phase software, boot up phase, restart phase, or the thermostat is connected to a charger. Usually, when the thermostat flashes a green light, it only lasts a minute or two. Once the thermostat finishes the software update and restart phase , the display should turn on.

Please follow the guide below:

  1. Remove and reconnect the display.
  2. If the issue persists, press and hold down the thermostat ring for 10 seconds to restart it.
  3. If the issue persists, verify that the thermostat mounts (can get detected by a computer if it’s connected via a micro-USB cable).
  4. If the Nest drive doesn’t mount, restart your thermostat and your computer.
  5. If the Nest drive still doesn’t mount, connect another USB device to the computer via the cable to check if it detects and/or installs the USB device.
    1. If the computer doesn’t detect the USB device, use a different USB cable, USB port, or computer.
    2. If the computer detects the USB device, manually eject the USB device, and then replug the display into the computer.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Jenelyn
