Nest thermostat not kicking on until I "wake up" the screen

Hi. We installed our Nest learning thermostat yesterday. So far, it only turns the air on when one of us walks over and clicks the screen. It seems like it "wakes up", realizes it's not at it's target temperature, and then the AC kicks on and starts working. Both times it's been because we realized the house seemed hot, go over and the temp it 76 when it's set to cool to 73. As soon as the screen lights up, it updates the "time to goal temperature on the screen", and AC starts working.

Note - we don't have a C wire - not sure if that's contributing. Rechecked all the wiring. House does successfully cool to goal temperature once on and working.

Any ideas??

Hello ERobinson1,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

It looks like it triggers the Home and Away Assist with the Eco Temperature. Please check your actual thermostat's Home and Away Assist option in the settings and disable it. Then, go to the Eco Temperature and turn it off. After the changes, restart your thermostat to refresh it and monitor its behavior.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark

Hey there,

I'm checking back in. Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you — I'd like to make sure everything is working.

Thanks,

Mark
