Nest thermostat won't connect to Google Home

Hi,

I've recently received a replacement Nest Thermostat due to a fault with my old one where it lost WiFi connection. The replacement connected straight away and was added to the Nest app without any problems. Unfortunately when I try to add it to Google Home when I try to scan the QR code on the back it errors out, if I type in the code manually the next screen says,

'choose the last four characters of your device's serial number'

but then does not provide any way of adding this information.

Reading on the forum I've seen this has been an issue for several people but non of the solutions have worked for me. Is there anyone who can shed some light on this please?

Thanks in advance.

@BenA

The Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E get installed in the Google Nest app, and then are supposed to AUTOMATICALLY appear in the Google Home app if you're using the same Google Account for both apps and you assigned your thermostat to a "room" in the Google Nest app. There is no action you can perform in the Google Home app to separately add the thermostat to that app.

In the last several months, many customers have reported this automatic add is not happening. Many of these customers have done the following to fix the problem:  In the Google Nest app, add a temporary second Google Nest "home/structure". Go to that empty temporary Google Nest "home/structure" in the Google Home app and delete it. This apparently forces the 2 apps to sync and the thermostat then appears in the Google Home app.  Strange, but it has worked for many in this forum.

Hi MplsCustomer,

I was about to try this but on opening Google Home the thermostat is now showing up. Thanks for your advice on this though.
