Nest won’t turn off heating RH-W1 wiring

I’ve just installed the nest learning 3rd gen in one of the thermostat zones my house. I have hydronic baseboard heating with an oil system. The nest successfully turns on the zone but once the desired temperature is reached (or if I turn the nest down to <60 to test) the heating zone doesn’t turn off. Wiring is a 2 wire red/white system in Rh and W1.  The previous thermostat had the Rh and Rc bridged.  Any suggestions or troubleshooting tips?

Hi Bdf717,

Thanks for reaching out and for having the Nest Thermostat. It seems there might be an issue with the heating zone turning off. Since you've mentioned that the previous thermostat had the Rh and Rc bridged, it's essential to ensure that the thermostat is configured correctly.

Here are a few suggestions and troubleshooting tips:

  1. Verify that your hydronic baseboard heating system is compatible with the Nest Thermostat. Sometimes, certain systems may require additional accessories or adjustments, such as a C-wire, for power-related issues.
  2. Try power-cycling the thermostat by turning it off and then on again. This can sometimes resolve minor glitches.
  3. Make sure that your Nest Thermostat's software is up-to-date. Updates can sometimes address compatibility issues and improve performance.

Also, from what country are you posting?
